Asia Cup 2025: Afghanistan's Naveen-ul-Haq Ruled Out Of Tournament Due To Injury
Afghanistan’s key fast bowler, Naveen-ul-Haq, has been ruled out of the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 after failing to recover from a shoulder injury.
September 15, 2025: Afghanistan’s chances in the Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025 are hurt by the fact that star seamer Naveen-ul-Haq will not be able to play. The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) medical team has not given the fast bowler the green light to play in the rest of the tournament since he is still recovering from a shoulder injury.
The ACB said on X that Naveen-ul-Haq will continue to get a lot of therapy and rehab. Afghanistan has asked fast bowler Abdullah Ahmadzai to join the main team. Ahmadzai, who was a reserve player before, just made his international debut and will now get to play for his country in the big tournament.
The group will really miss Naveen. The seamer has been a key part of Afghanistan’s bowling attack, claiming 67 wickets in 48 T20 International matches at an average of 18.73. His best stats, 4/20, show that he can get key wickets.
Afghanistan’s first game in the Asia Cup was a big win over Hong Kong in Group B, by 94 runs. Sediqullah Atal and Azmatullah Omarzai both scored half-centuries, which helped the team do quite well so far.
The team is presently getting set for a big encounter against Bangladesh on September 16 at the Dubai International Stadium. To have a chance at a Super Four position, Bangladesh must win the game. Afghanistan, on the other hand, wants to stay at the top of Group B and keep their unbeaten streak going.
