Asia Cup 2025: Pakistan Skipper Salman Ali Agha Questions Fakhar Zaman’s Controversial Dismissal

Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha expressed his belief that opener Fakhar Zaman’s controversial dismissal was an umpiring error. Despite the TV umpire’s ruling, Agha insists the ball bounced before the catch was completed.

September 22, 2025: There was considerable disagreement during the important game between India and Pakistan on Sunday. Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha stated he believes opener Fakhar Zaman was unfairly called out in the key Super Fours match.

Agha stated he thought the ball had bounced before India’s wicketkeeper Sanju Samson caught it, even though he understood that “umpires can make mistakes.”

Zaman, who had started off brightly with 15 runs from nine balls, edged a delivery from Hardik Pandya in the third over. The on-field umpire handed the decision to the third umpire after wicketkeeper Sanju Samson caught the ball low. After watching multiple replays, the third umpire said the catch was clean, which clearly made Zaman angry.

Agha said in the news conference after the game, “To me, it looked like it bounced ahead of the keeper.” Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis, two former cricket players, both agreed with him and questioned the judgment on live TV. Akram added that the batter should get the benefit of the doubt if there is “no conclusive evidence.” Agha acknowledged that the umpires had the last word, but he felt that the dismissal affected the match in a big way and that Pakistan lost 190 runs because of it.
