Ex BCB Official Warns Of Revenue Loss And Conflict

January 6, 2026: Former BCB general secretary Syed Ashraful Haque said India can provide head of state level security for Bangladesh during the T20 World Cup 2026. He stated that once such assurance is given the decision to travel will rest with Bangladesh. He also warned that opting out could hurt relations with BCCI.

Haque explained that shifting World Cup venues with just a month left would be extremely difficult. He added that if Bangladesh refuse to play they may lose their share of ICC revenue and face direct conflict with the Indian board over the decision.

Tensions rose after KKR released Mustafizur Rahman on BCCI instructions following security concerns cited by Bangladesh. In response Bangladesh banned the IPL broadcast claiming no clear reason was given for the pacer removal amid worsening diplomatic ties.
