Basit Ali Offers Technical Advice To Babar Azam; Predicts He Will Be the ‘Best Batter’ In PSL 2025

March 22, 2025: Former cricketer Basit Ali has offered some key technical advice to Pakistan’s top batter, Babar Azam, ahead of the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 season. After a somewhat disappointing performance in the recently concluded Champions Trophy, Babar Azam found himself facing increased scrutiny, especially after being dropped from Pakistan’s T20I squad for the series against New Zealand. However, he was retained for the ODI leg, giving him a chance to regain his rhythm in the format.

Basit, recognizing the challenges Babar has faced, shared his thoughts on how the star batter could improve his game. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Basit suggested a few adjustments in Babar’s technique, particularly focusing on his stance and bat position. “Babar should reduce his stance. He should also slightly open his bat. His bat is closed, and he should try to use his bottom hand more in the powerplay,” Basit recommended.

He emphasized that the use of the bottom hand would help Babar regain control and enhance his performance, particularly in the powerplay overs, which is crucial for setting a solid foundation in T20 cricket. As pressure mounts on both Babar and Mohammad Rizwan, who were both dropped for the T20I phase, Basit’s advice may prove vital in helping Babar regain his form.

Pakistan’s recent T20I series against New Zealand saw the emergence of younger players, such as Hasan Nawaz, who played a key role in securing a remarkable 205-run chase with an unbeaten ton. Despite the setbacks in the T20 format, the team is now focused on their upcoming ODI series against New Zealand, which begins on March 29.

Looking ahead, Basit is confident that Babar will shine in the PSL 2025. He predicted that Babar Azam will be the best batter in the tournament, which is set to begin on April 11. Babar will be representing Peshawar Zalmi in the tournament, with their opening match against Quetta Gladiators scheduled for April 12 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

As PSL approaches, all eyes will be on Babar Azam to see if he can deliver on Basit Ali’s prediction and make a statement with his performances, particularly with the added technical adjustments that could elevate his game.
