German Champions Determined to Sign Colombian Forward; Diaz Omitted from Liverpool Friendly Amidst Rumors.

Munich, Germany – July 27, 2025 – Bayern Munich is reportedly preparing an improved offer for Liverpool forward Luis Diaz, signaling their strong determination to bring the Colombia international to the Bundesliga. The German champions had an initial bid of £58.6 million for Diaz rejected by Liverpool earlier this month, but sources indicate that Bayern is confident an agreement can be reached. The new offer, inclusive of add-ons, is expected to exceed £60 million, with some reports suggesting it could be around £69 million.

The speculation surrounding Diaz’s future intensified after he was notably omitted from Liverpool’s squad for Saturday’s 4-2 pre-season friendly defeat by AC Milan in Hong Kong. Liverpool manager Arne Slot addressed the situation, stating, “There are a lot of rumours around him lately and I cannot go into that. He’s training really well with us but we’ve decided for now not to play him yet.” Recent reports suggest that while Liverpool initially resisted, Diaz himself has expressed a desire to join Bayern, prompting the Reds to enter advanced talks.

Luis Diaz arrived at Anfield from Porto in January 2022 in a deal worth an initial £37 million. He quickly became an integral part of the squad, playing a key role in their successful 2024-25 Premier League title campaign, scoring 13 goals in 36 league appearances. His current contract with Liverpool has two years left to run.

Liverpool has already been active in the transfer market this summer, having secured the signings of forwards Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike. Florian Wirtz joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen on June 20, 2025, in a record-breaking deal worth an initial €125 million (£116 million), with further add-ons. Hugo Ekitike completed his move to Liverpool from Eintracht Frankfurt on July 23, 2025, in a deal that could rise to £79 million.

The Reds are also reportedly interested in Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak, though Isak’s own future is currently uncertain. Reports indicate that Isak has informed Newcastle he wishes to explore his options, and he was not part of their pre-season tour, officially due to a thigh injury. While Liverpool has signed Ekitike, they are said to remain interested in Isak should he become available.

The potential departure of Luis Diaz marks a significant development for Liverpool as they navigate the transfer window under new management, aiming to strengthen their squad while managing key player movements.
