BCCI Secretary Hints at New President, Confirms Upcoming AGM

The BCCI has confirmed that a notice regarding the appointment of its new president will be issued “very soon” following Roger Binny’s departure. The announcement comes ahead of the board’s Annual General Meeting, where the next leader is expected to be finalized.

September 6, 2025: Devajit Saikia, the secretary of the BCCI, has spoken something about the rumors flying around about who will be the future president of the board.

He also indicated that an official announcement would be issued out in the coming few days to let everyone know what will happen next. Roger Binny had to depart because he reached 70 in July, which is the age limit set by the BCCI constitution.

Saikia also said that the Board of Control for Cricket in India is set on following its own rules, which specify that an Annual General Meeting (AGM) must place by the end of September. It should take “a day or two” to send out the notice for the AGM. It will tell you when, where, and how the meeting will take place. Before the annual general meeting (AGM), the board’s top executives should convene to pick the final candidates for the elections that are coming up.

Right now, Rajeev Shukla is the acting president of the BCCI. Roger Binny is no longer with us, and several sources suggest that Rajeev Shukla, who is the BCCI vice-president, is now in command. Shukla has called these kinds of reports “useless talks” in the past. But sources say he is just obeying the regulations until the AGM has real elections.

Everyone wants to be the best and knows Shukla. He will be 66 on Monday. Some people think he might continue vice president, but it’s extremely likely that he will become president full-time. In future elections, the secretary, joint secretary, and treasurer will probably still be essential responsibilities.
