April 29, 2025: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced a cash reward of ₹10 lakh for 14-year-old cricket prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi, following the youngster’s sensational century for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2025. The CM lauded the teenager’s extraordinary achievement as a moment of pride for Bihar and a promising sign for Indian cricket’s future.
Suryavanshi, a native of Bihar, scripted history at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur by becoming the youngest player to score a T20 century and the fastest Indian to reach the milestone in IPL history — reaching his hundred in just 35 balls. His explosive 38-ball 101 powered Rajasthan Royals to a dominant 8-wicket win, breaking Yusuf Pathan’s 15-year-old record and trailing only Chris Gayle’s legendary 30-ball ton in 2013.
In a heartfelt message on social media, CM Nitish Kumar wrote, “Vaibhav has become a new hope for Indian cricket… I met him and his father in 2024 and wished him a bright future. Now, seeing his brilliant performance, the state is proud.”
Union Minister Chirag Paswan also praised the young cricketer, calling his achievement a “beautiful start” and predicting a bright future for the teenager.
Vaibhav’s journey from Bihar’s cricketing circuits to IPL stardom is fast becoming one of the most inspiring stories in Indian sports this year.
