July 11, 2025: After the second day of the ongoing third Test match against England resumed, Jasprit Bumrah, the star Indian pacer, was spotted spitting fire at Lord’s. Joe Root scored his 37th Test century on the opening ball of the day, but the rest of the day was a complete mess. In the first half of the morning session, the right-arm quick, who had only taken one wicket on the first day, got rid of players like Chris Woakes, Ben Stokes, and Root.

Following their 79-run partnership for the fifth wicket on the first day, Root and Stokes returned to the English innings at 251/5. The pair soon had to deal with Bumrah’s anger and went back to the changing room. Bumrah deceived Stokes with a brilliant ripper in the 86th over. The ball clipped the top of the off stump after hitting the decent length and getting past Stokes’ forward defense.

In the 87th over of the English innings, Bumrah made a comeback to dismiss Joe Root, his main target. Root was pulled forward on the push by the Indian fast bowling it a little fuller. The ball uprooted the middle stump after grabbing the inside edge of Root’s willow.

After the next delivery, Chris Woakes was out for a first-ball duck. As Woakes attempted to prod it, Bumrah took a delicate edge and bowled it fuller once more, extracting the extra bounce. Someone from the slip cordon heard the nick and persuaded captain Shubman Gill to use the DRS, even though neither the bowler nor the replacement keeper, Dhruv Jurel, were certain.

The ultra-edge evidently displayed a spike as the ball passed Woakes’ bat, marking India’s victory after a string of unsuccessful calls.

Although Bumrah was unable to complete a hat-trick, he was responsible for England’s unexpected batting collapse as the second day got underway. The hosts fell from 251/5 to 271/7 in an instant, leaving the tail to contend with a raging Indian assault.
