Byron Buxton of the Minnesota Twins has rib pain
July 28, 2025: Great news for the Minnesota Twins! Byron Buxton, an All-Star center fielder, has not been put on the injured list, even though he has been struggling with rib cage cartilage inflammation. After an MRI, the team said on Sunday that his status is day-to-day.
“It’s a good outcome… to be day-to-day with what he left the game with, it’s a good thing,” said manager Rocco Baldelli. Buxton, who is 31 years old, was taken out of Saturday’s 9-3 loss to the Washington Nationals because his left side hurt, and he missed Sunday’s 7-2 loss.

Buxton has had a lot of ailments in the past, but this season he has mostly stayed healthy. The only time he was on the disabled list was for a concussion in May. In 85 games, he has been a crucial offensive player, hitting.282 with 23 home runs, 59 RBIs, and 17 steals. His .343 on-base percentage, .561 slugging percentage, and .905 OPS are more proof of how well he played.
Buxton has played 857 games for the Twins since 2015 and has a career batting average of.249. He has hit 156 home runs and driven in 412 runs. He is also a two-time All-Star and won the Gold Glove in 2017. The team plans to give him daily therapy and watch him closely, hoping he will be back in the lineup soon.
