Champions Trophy: Rohit Sharma Reveals Axar Patel Was Told To Bat At Number 5 No Matter What

Rohit revealed that Axar had been informed by the team management during India’s ODI series against England that, regardless of the situation, he would bat at number five.

This clear directive has paid off as Axar has showcased his growing batting skills. In India’s final group stage match against New Zealand, where the team was in early trouble at 30/3, Axar stepped in to stabilize the innings. He formed a crucial 98-run partnership with Shreyas Iyer, contributing 42 runs off 61 balls, including three fours and a six. While batting under pressure, Axar’s positive approach and ability to take on the game stood out, which aligns with the team’s strategy of using him in the middle order.
