Champions Trophy: Tom Latham Comments On Venue Controversy: 'Out Of Our Control'
March 3, 2025: New Zealand’s wicketkeeper-batter, Tom Latham, recently addressed the ongoing row surrounding the venues for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. With some of the tournament’s venues facing criticism for various logistical and weather-related issues, Latham acknowledged the controversy but emphasized that such matters were beyond the control of the players.
“It’s out of our control,” Latham said when asked about the venue disputes in a recent interview. “We just focus on playing the game, and whatever happens outside of that is not something we can influence. All we can do is prepare ourselves for the challenges ahead, no matter where the matches are being held.”
Latham’s comments come amid mounting concerns from teams and fans regarding the suitability of certain stadiums, with some expressing dissatisfaction over conditions or infrastructure. However, the 33-year-old maintained that the team’s focus would remain solely on the cricket and not be swayed by external factors.
New Zealand’s role in the Champions Trophy remains significant, as they have consistently performed well in ICC tournaments. Latham’s leadership, along with that of skipper Kane Williamson, will be crucial as the Black Caps look to continue their strong form in the prestigious competition.
As the venue row continues to make headlines, players like Latham are looking to maintain their composure and focus on their on-field performances, with the belief that external factors will not dictate their tournament run.
