Chiefs WR Rashee Rice Sentenced for High-Speed Dallas Crash, Faces Probable NFL Suspension

July 17, 2025: Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice was sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty to two felony charges stemming from a high-speed, multi-vehicle crash on U.S. 75 in Dallas in 2024.

The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that Rice pleaded guilty to collision involving serious bodily injury and racing on a highway causing bodily injury. As part of the plea deal, Rice received five years of deferred probation, 30 days in jail, and must pay $115,481.91 in restitution to victims for medical expenses. The jail time will be served as a condition of his probation.

Rice expressed remorse in a statement through his attorney, State Senator Royce West, saying, “I am profoundly sorry for the physical damages to person and property… I fully apologize for the harm I caused to innocent drivers and their families.”

The crash occurred when Rice, driving a Lamborghini, was reportedly racing former SMU cornerback Theodore “Teddy” Knox, who was driving a Corvette. Both vehicles were clocked at speeds exceeding 115 mph prior to the collision, which ultimately involved six cars.

Rice turned himself in shortly after the incident and admitted to driving the Lamborghini. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the plea makes it likely that Rice will face a multi-game NFL suspension, though the league has yet to comment.
