VVS Laxman, former Indian cricketer, lauded Reddy’s remarkable timing and positivity during the innings. He praised the young talent for taking responsibility when the team was in trouble, calling his performance the “first of many” to come. “What an innings, dear Nitish. To become the third youngest Indian to score a Test hundred in Aus, and what an occasion to do it with the team in trouble. I’m sure this will be the first of many. Enjoyed your positivity and fearless stroke play. Keep it up. God bless you always,” wrote Laxman on X.

Wasim Jaffer, former Indian opener, was equally impressed by Reddy’s technique and approach to the game. He highlighted his compact technique and strong attitude, adding that the youngster’s ability to “put a price on his wicket” showcased his maturity as a Test batter. “This young man just continues to impress. His compact technique, gutsy attitude, and most importantly the way he puts a price on his wicket are all impressive attributes of a fine Test batter in the making. Very well played,” Jaffer wrote.

Ian Bishop, former West Indies cricketer, described Reddy’s century as “high quality” and a demonstration of solid technique, pointing out how well the young batter left deliveries and attacked when necessary. He also reflected on the “parental sacrifice” that is often the story behind such success in Indian cricket. “That’s a test century of high quality and technical skill from 21-year-old Nitish Kumar Reddy. Left the ball expertly, and attacked when needed. Another deeply moving story of parental sacrifice in Indian cricket,” Bishop wrote.

Suresh Raina, former Indian cricketer, also took to social media to congratulate Reddy on his milestone. “What a moment for Nitish Kumar Reddy! Congratulations brother for maiden century in Aus,” Raina wrote
