đ Inzamam-ul-Haq Warns Sunil Gavaskar Over Pakistan Criticism: "Mind Your Words"
March 10, 2025: Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has issued a stern warning to Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar after the latter claimed that even Indiaâs B team could challenge Pakistan. Inzamam, visibly upset by Gavaskarâs remarks, urged the former Indian skipper to be more respectful while talking about another cricketing nation.
Speaking on a Pakistani show, Inzamam criticized Gavaskarâs statement, emphasizing that every team deserves respect:
âGavaskar sahab should look at the stats. He is a senior and someone we respect, but making such statements about another team isnât fair. You have every right to praise your team, but please be mindful of your words.â
Gavaskar, speaking after Indiaâs victory over Pakistan in the Champions Trophy 2025 league stage, said:

âI believe that even Indiaâs backup squad could challenge Pakistan. As for a third-string side, Iâm not entirely sure. But a B team would certainly be a tough opponent for them.â
Since Pakistanâs historic win over India in the 2021 T20 World Cup, the Men in Blue have completely dominated their arch-rivals:
â
2022 T20 World Cup â India won
â
2023 ODI World Cup â India won
â
2024 T20 World Cup â India won
â
2025 Champions Trophy â Virat Kohliâs century powered India to an easy win over Pakistan in the group stage.
Pakistan, despite being co-hosts of the ICC event, failed to progress beyond the group stage, while India went on to win their third Champions Trophy title by defeating New Zealand in the final.
While Gavaskarâs comment sparked a heated debate, it highlights the current gap between the two teams in international cricket. With Indiaâs strong talent pipeline and consistent performances, does Pakistan need a major overhaul to regain its competitiveness against India?
