Bangladesh Seamer Taskin Ahmed Praises Indian Cricket Team Ability To Perform Well Across Various Conditions

October 10, 2024: After Bangladesh’s loss to India in the second T20I in Delhi, fast bowler Taskin Ahmed praised India’s approach and execution, particularly highlighting their adaptability in different conditions.

India defeated Bangladesh by 86 runs, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Reflecting on the match, Taskin commented in the post-match press conference, “India batted really well. They do that not only in Indian conditions but all the conditions. They batted well till the end.” His remarks emphasized India’s consistent ability to perform under diverse environments, underscoring their adaptability and depth in batting.

Taskin also spoke about Bangladesh’s key allrounder Shakib Al Hasan, acknowledging his significance to the team but accepting the reality that Shakib’s retirement will eventually happen: “Shakib is always important for us but we have to accept the reality that he is going to retire. He is important to us.”

Assessing Bangladesh’s batting, Taskin was candid in his criticism, admitting that the team did not meet expectations despite the favorable conditions: “The wicket was good for batting but we did not bat well to our potential.” Bangladesh struggled to capitalize on opportunities, as their innings collapsed to 135/9 in pursuit of India’s 221/9.

In the match, India recovered from a tricky situation at 41/3 with Nitish Rana (74 off 34 balls) and Rinku Singh (53 off 29 balls) leading a crucial partnership of 108 runs, aided by a cameo from Hardik Pandya (32 off 19 balls). Taskin Ahmed (2/16) and Rishad Hossain (3/55) were the standout bowlers for Bangladesh, but their efforts were insufficient to contain India.

Bangladesh’s chase faltered, with Mahmudullah’s 41 being the only significant contribution, as India’s bowlers—led by Varun Chakravarthy (2/19) and Nitish Rana (2/23)—dominated. Nitish Rana was named Player of the Match for his all-round performance.
