Pakistan Star Questions PCB’s ‘VVIP Treatment’ For Saim Ayub: “Does He Play For India?”
February 19, 2025: Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali has openly criticized the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for allegedly showing favoritism in player treatment. He questioned why injured batter Saim Ayub was sent to London for rehabilitation while other injured players, including himself in the past, did not receive the same level of medical care.
Ayub, who suffered a right ankle fracture during Pakistan’s tour of South Africa, has been ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy and is currently recovering in London. Expressing his frustration, Hasan remarked on the Ultra Edge podcast, “Saim Ayub is injured. He is the player of your team. Wasn’t I a member of the team in 2020? If another player gets injured, won’t he be a member of the team? Does he play for India?”

Hasan further suggested that PCB’s selective treatment of players might not be consistent in the future, stating, “You’re giving VVIP treatment to Saim Ayub. But if he gets injured again, will they treat him the same way? No, they won’t.”
Despite his criticism, Hasan wished Ayub a speedy recovery, hoping he would contribute significantly to Pakistan’s success.

Meanwhile, former Australia captain Ricky Ponting recently praised Saim Ayub, calling him a “high-quality” player and a major absence for Pakistan in the Champions Trophy. He also lauded Pakistan’s fast-bowling attack, highlighting the strength of Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah.
“But Pakistan’s fast bowling brigade is very, very good. Led by Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah, they’ve been terrific in recent series. They have the pace and skill to trouble any batting line-up,” Ponting stated.
