“Consistency is Key”—Harshit Rana on Lessons from Bumrah and Morkel

India’s rising pace star Harshit Rana credits Jasprit Bumrah and bowling coach Morne Morkel for shaping his game as he shines in the Champions Trophy opener against Bangladesh.

Dubai [UAE], February 21: Harshit Rana, India’s promising young pacer, has credited pace maestro Jasprit Bumrah and bowling coach Morne Morkel for shaping his skills and helping him adapt to the demands of international cricket.

With the stakes high in the Champions Trophy, India’s management placed its trust in Harshit over the more experienced Arshdeep Singh. Partnering with Mohammed Shami and Hardik Pandya, Harshit seized the opportunity, playing a crucial role in India’s dominant six-wicket victory over Bangladesh in Dubai.

Taking charge with the new ball, Harshit made an immediate impact, dismissing Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto for a two-ball duck. He continued his impressive spell throughout the innings, finishing with 3/31 in 7.4 overs, displaying precision and control under pressure.

Learning from the Best: Bumrah and Morkel’s Influence

Having trained alongside Bumrah during India’s Test tour of Australia, Harshit highlighted the invaluable lessons he gained from India’s pace spearhead.

“Working with Jassi bhai (Jasprit Bumrah) benefits a lot because he has so much experience. He explains how to bowl in different formats. I picked up consistency from him,” Harshit told reporters after the match.

The young pacer also praised Morne Morkel for refining his bowling technique and honing his accuracy.

“I have learned a lot from him. He (Morkel) has worked a lot on my line and length,” Harshit added.

Looking Ahead: The Big Clash Against Pakistan

Following their convincing win over Bangladesh, India now gears up for a high-voltage encounter against Pakistan on Sunday at the same venue. Despite the hype and pressure surrounding the rivalry, Harshit emphasized that the team would maintain a composed mindset.

“When you play for India, there is always pressure. We will take it as a normal game,” he asserted.

With Harshit Rana’s breakthrough performance and the guidance of seasoned mentors like Bumrah and Morkel, India’s pace attack looks well-equipped to take on the challenges ahead in the tournament.
