Batting first, RCB posted a competitive 190/9, led by Virat Kohli’s resilient 43 off 35 balls.
An emotional Kohli, who has devoted 18 years to the franchise, shared, “I’ve given this team my youth, prime and experience. To finally win it is an unbelievable feeling. I was overcome with emotion after the last ball.
Compared to the IPL’s first edition in 2008 (when winners got ₹4.8 crore and runners-up ₹2.4 crore), the prize pool has seen a significant rise.
Following the last ball, a teary-eyed Kohli kissed the Motera turf, celebrating alongside teammates and legends AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle, as RCB fans worldwide rejoiced in their long-awaited triumph.
