Gautam Gambhir Issues Stern Warning After Nitish Kumar Reddy's Injury Derails India's T20 Campaign
January 27, 2025: India’s all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the remaining T20I series against England due to an injury sustained just hours before the second match in Chennai. Reddy, who featured in the series opener in Kolkata, did not get a chance to bat or bowl but has now been sidelined from the squad.

Reddy’s injury comes after a grueling season, including his participation in all five Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, a series that India lost 1-2.
Former cricketer Aakash Chopra addressed the situation on his YouTube channel, shedding light on Reddy’s workload management and potential strain from back-to-back games.

“Nitish Kumar Reddy is injured and out of the series. You must be wondering how it happened. The transition to international cricket comes with a heavier workload. He played all five Tests in Australia, batted, bowled, and stayed on the ground consistently. It takes a toll, especially for a young player,” Chopra explained.
The former batter further stated that Reddy’s body might not have been ready for the rigorous demands of international cricket. “Workload and pressure go hand in hand. Sometimes, the body just can’t sustain such intensity, and he broke down,” Chopra added.
To cover for Reddy’s absence, all-rounder Shivam Dube has been drafted into the squad.
India currently leads the series 2-0 and will look to seal the series with a win in the third T20I in Rajkot on Tuesday.
