Harbhajan Singh Praises MS Dhoni’s Lightning-Fast Stumping In IPL 2025 El Clasico

March 24, 2025: Harbhajan Singh, former Indian cricketer and off-spinner, recently lauded MS Dhoni for his incredible wicketkeeping skills during the IPL 2025 ‘El Clasico’ between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI). Dhoni, known for his sharp reflexes behind the stumps, once again showcased his lightning-fast abilities, leaving fans in awe.

The remarkable moment came during the 11th over of MI’s innings. Suryakumar Yadav, MI’s stand-in captain, attempted an inside-out drive against Noor Ahmad’s wrist spin. However, he missed the ball completely, and before he could even react, Dhoni swiftly removed the bails, stumping him out for a well-played 29 off 26 balls.

Harbhajan praised Dhoni’s stumping, saying, “There is no wicketkeeper like MS Dhoni, even today. At this age, wicketkeeping like that was lightning-quick.” This moment of brilliance added to the excitement of the match, and the packed crowd at Chepauk erupted in applause.

Despite MI’s strong start, they failed to build significant partnerships and finished with a modest total of 155/9. In their chase, CSK comfortably reached the target, thanks to a stellar 53 from Ruturaj Gaikwad and an unbeaten 65* from Rachin Ravindra. Harbhajan felt MI could have posted a higher total if they had batted better, commenting, “If five or six matches had been played on this pitch, then MI’s total could have been a winning one.”

Although MS Dhoni didn’t get a chance to bat in a high-pressure situation until the end, his presence on the field ignited the crowd’s enthusiasm. CSK lost a couple of wickets late in the chase, bringing Dhoni to the crease in the final stages of the match. He faced the last two balls of the penultimate over, playing them calmly to secure the victory for his team.

Harbhajan concluded, saying, “When Dhoni came out to bat, he played two balls, but the entire stadium was filled with enthusiasm,” underlining the immense respect and love Dhoni continues to command, even in his later years as a cricketer.
