India strikes early with Bumrah and Reddy leading the charge; Siraj’s injury scare eased as Australia lose three wickets before Lunch.

December 14, 2024: India vs Australia LIVE Updates, 3rd Test Day 2: India delivered a strong performance in the morning session of Day 2 at The Gabba, Brisbane, reducing Australia to 104/3 at Lunch in the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah gave the visitors a dream start, dismissing openers Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney in quick succession within the first 30 minutes of play. Nitish Kumar Reddy added to the pressure, sending Marnus Labuschagne back to the pavilion with a sharp catch at slip by Virat Kohli.

At Lunch, Steve Smith remains unbeaten on 25, anchoring the innings, while Travis Head, the hero of the second Test, has counter-attacked effectively, keeping India’s bowlers at bay with a mix of caution and aggression.

Injury Scare for Mohammed Siraj

A worrying moment came for India when pacer Mohammed Siraj appeared to suffer a hamstring injury, walking off mid-over. However, much to India’s relief, Siraj returned to the field later and was seen fielding comfortably, easing concerns about a potential setback.

India’s bowlers maintained tight lines throughout the session, making Australia work for every run. With the pitch showing some bounce and movement, the contest is finely poised heading into the second session.
