IPL 2025: KL Rahul Opens Up About His Nerve-Wracking Mega Auction Experience And Excitement To Play For Delhi Capitals

March 13, 2025: KL Rahul, the newly-acquired Delhi Capitals wicketkeeper-batter, opened up about his emotional journey during the mega auction and shared his excitement for the upcoming IPL 2025 season. Rahul, who had spent three seasons as the captain of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), parted ways with the franchise and enrolled his name for the auction, where he was acquired by Delhi Capitals for a hefty sum of Rs 14 crore.

The auction experience, Rahul admits, was a nerve-wracking one. “As a player, not knowing which team you will end up with is never easy. Over the years, I’ve seen how unpredictable auctions can be. There’s no fixed pattern to how things unfold,” Rahul said, reflecting on the auction’s uncertainty. He added that the pressure of building a team as a player is immense because your career is on the line with every bid.

Despite the anxiety, Rahul was thrilled to join Delhi Capitals. “I’m really happy to be joining Delhi Capitals. Parth Jindal, the team’s owner, is a close friend, and we’ve spent a lot of time outside cricket discussing various things. I know how passionate he is about the sport, and I’m excited to be a part of this team,” Rahul shared.

Looking ahead to the new season, Rahul expressed excitement about playing alongside some of the finest talents in the IPL, including Mitchell Starc, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav. He also emphasized that Delhi Capitals had a strong and balanced squad, with a great mix of experienced players and young talent. “This will be a new experience for me, joining a new franchise. I’m excited to play with and learn from some incredibly skilled youngsters,” he said.

Rahul, who was part of the victorious Indian team in the recent Champions Trophy, also spoke about the excitement of facing his former team, LSG, in the opening match of the IPL 2025 season. The Capitals will square off against Lucknow Super Giants on March 24.

As the IPL 2025 season nears, Rahul is eager to contribute to his new team’s success, bringing his experience and leadership qualities to the Delhi Capitals’ camp.
