IPL 2025: Rishabh Pant Goes Ballistic With Attacking Shots During LSG Nets Session
March 18, 2025: Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has kicked off his practice sessions ahead of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
In a video shared by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on social media, Pant was seen advising a bowler, saying, “Time le ke daalo koi jaldi nahi hai, apne ko bhi saans chahiye thodi si,” which translates to “Take your time and bowl, I need some time to breathe too.”
Despite his relaxed words, Pant was quick to unleash a series of attacking shots, displaying his signature aggressive style of batting. The video showcased some of his unorthodox hits, which left the bowler with little room to breathe. The caption of the video posted on LSG’s official X handle read, “That sound… uffff,” highlighting Pant’s powerful batting.
Pant’s journey in IPL 2025 is shaping up to be an emotional one, as he will start the season as the captain of LSG, facing his former side, Delhi Capitals, on March 24 in Visakhapatnam. Pant has represented Delhi Capitals (DC) for his entire IPL career since 2016, accumulating 3,284 runs in 110 matches, with a century and 18 fifties. He was appointed as DC’s captain in 2021 and led them to the playoffs in the same season. However, ahead of the 2024 mega auction, he was let go by DC and became the most expensive player in IPL history at Rs 27 crore when he was bought by LSG. The franchise also appointed him as their captain in January.
While speculations are swirling about his batting position in LSG, fans are eagerly awaiting a thrilling season with Pant at the helm. Pant was also part of India’s ICC Champions Trophy-winning team, though he did not play a match. After not featuring in any white-ball games for India since August, a strong performance in IPL 2025 could potentially see Pant reclaim his position as India’s first-choice wicketkeeper-batter.
