IPL 2025: Ajay Jadeja Applauds Rohit Sharma’s “Adaptive Approach” in MI’s Commanding Win Over RR

May 2, 2025: Following Mumbai Indians’ commanding victory over Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur, former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja lauded Rohit Sharma for his “adaptive approach” at the top of the order. With a century partnership alongside Ryan Rickelton, Rohit played a pivotal role in MI’s sixth consecutive win over RR on Thursday, helping them cement their position at the top of the IPL 2025 points table.

Speaking on Match Centre Live on JioHotstar, Jadeja highlighted how Rohit’s recent form has been a major boost for the five-time champions. “Mumbai would love to have Rohit Sharma scoring consistently,” Jadeja said. “Today, he showed great experience — he took a few balls to settle in and built a steady partnership. Despite a cautious start, they were 58 for no loss in six overs.”

He pointed out how this was a shift in Rohit’s usual aggressive style, showing maturity and awareness of match conditions. “This was a more adaptive approach from Rohit, who usually pushes hard early on. It was smart cricket based on pitch conditions,” Jadeja noted. “And when you have a base of 100-plus, imagine bringing in Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, or Tilak Varma.”

After a slow start to the season — scoring just 56 runs in his first five innings — Rohit has found his rhythm. In his last five outings, he’s amassed 237 runs at an impressive average of 59.25, including three half-centuries. His resurgence couldn’t have come at a better time for Mumbai, as they look to dominate the second half of the tournament.

Jadeja also touched upon Rajasthan Royals’ inconsistency. While they offered fans a “glimmer of hope” with a dominant win over Gujarat Titans, thanks to their teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s century, their form has largely faltered.

“But apart from that, there has not been much. Sanju Samson has been injured, and no one else has stepped up,” Jadeja remarked. “Meanwhile, the Mumbai Indians looked like a champion side with the team they played today. Now they are at the top of the table, and this is how they should have been playing from the start.”

As MI continues to gather momentum, with key players firing and their top order in sync, the former champions look increasingly dangerous heading into the business end of the tournament.
