IPL 2025: Arshdeep Singh Talks Growth And Responsibility At Punjab Kings
April 17, 2025: Punjab Kings’ fast bowler, Arshdeep Singh, recently shared his journey with the team and discussed his evolving role within the franchise during the latest episode of the “Kandid with Kings” series, hosted by Sahiba Bali. The left-arm pacer opened up about how the responsibilities given to him early in his IPL career helped shape him as both a player and a person.
Arshdeep, who has been with the franchise for seven years, recalled his initial years with PBKS and the growth he experienced. “Ever since I came to Punjab Kings, barring the first year, I started feeling seniority in my role. I have been associated with this team for the last seven years, and after spending my first year with the team, I started feeling that I had been given a huge responsibility,” he said. He added that this responsibility pushed him to develop quickly and become more serious about his game.
The fast bowler discussed how the early elevation in his role with the team forced him to mature quickly. “The elevation in my role and growth came pretty early, and hence, I knew that I could not mess up at crucial stages because at those times, not working as per the plan can put the team in serious trouble. Hence, I became serious and started feeling like a senior way too early,” he said.
Arshdeep also touched on a lighter side of his career — social media trolling. The 24-year-old pacer has faced his share of tough match days and online criticism but now views it with a sense of humor. “I have had ups and downs in my career. I have seen the highest point as well as the lowest point in a very short span. But I feel very entertained by these trolls. I laugh at their creativity and memes. Earlier, I used to save these memes and messages so I could use them later, but now I feel they don’t make any sense. However, I still enjoy looking at people’s creativity,” he said with a chuckle.
Arshdeep’s candid thoughts on his growth and social media experiences show his maturity and how he’s handling the pressures of international cricket and the IPL. Punjab Kings will next play against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday, April 18.
Arshdeep’s journey with Punjab Kings has been an inspiring one, and his reflections give fans an inside look into the growth of one of IPL’s brightest fast-bowling talents.
