Delhi Capitals Bowling Coach Munaf Patel Fined By BCCI For This Reason, See Video!
April 17,2025: Delhi Capitals (DC) pacer Munaf Patel found himself in hot water after an intense exchange with the fourth umpire during the IPL 2025 match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. The incident, which was caught on camera, quickly went viral on social media, stirring up discussions among fans and experts alike.
In the clip, Munaf Patel can be seen having a heated conversation with the fourth umpire after he reportedly denied a request to send a player onto the field to deliver a message. The disagreement between the bowler and the official led to a moment of tension, but it was resolved shortly thereafter.
As a result of this altercation, Munaf Patel was slapped with a fine by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The speedster was fined 25% of his match fees and handed one demerit point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct. Specifically, Patel admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.20, which deals with conduct contrary to the spirit of the game.
The sanction was enforced by the Match Referee, and under the IPL rules, his decision is final and binding for Level 1 breaches.
Munaf Patel accepted the penalty, which serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining discipline on and off the field. This incident follows a series of high-profile altercations in the IPL, underlining the pressures players face during high-stakes matches.
Despite the controversy, DC remained focused on their game, with the team looking to bounce back from the incident as they move forward in the tournament.
