IPL 2025: Mumbai Indians Sign Raghu Sharma as Replacement for Injured Vignesh Puthur

May 1, 2025: Mumbai Indians (MI) have confirmed the signing of leg-spinner Raghu Sharma as a replacement for Vignesh Puthur, who has been ruled out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season due to injury. Sharma, born on March 11, 1993, in Jalandhar, Punjab, will join the MI squad at his base price of Rs 30 lakh.

Sharma, a right-arm leg-break bowler, has represented Punjab and Puducherry in domestic cricket. In his career, he has made notable contributions in first-class cricket, claiming 57 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 19.59, including impressive best bowling figures of 7/56. In List A cricket, Sharma has taken 14 wickets in 9 matches, with best figures of 4/37. He has also appeared in three T20 matches, picking up three wickets.

This will be Sharma’s first stint in the IPL, as he enters the league from the RAPP list.

Vignesh Puthur had played five matches for MI in the ongoing IPL 2025, where he managed to pick up six wickets at an average of 18.17, with best bowling figures of 3/32.

Mumbai Indians, currently in the third spot with 12 points from 10 matches, will face the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their next match on Thursday at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Rajasthan Royals are placed in the eighth spot with six points from 10 matches.
