IPL 2025: Nicholas Pooran Credits ‘Incredible Talent’ For His Six-Hitting Success

March 28, 2025: Nicholas Pooran, the explosive Caribbean cricketer for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), has taken the ongoing IPL 2025 by storm with his remarkable ability to hit sixes effortlessly. In his first two games, Pooran has already hit 13 maximums, showcasing his natural talent for clearing the ropes.

In LSG’s recent match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Pooran’s blistering knock of 70 runs from just 26 balls played a pivotal role in securing a five-wicket win. Pooran’s approach to his batting is all about timing rather than brute power. Despite being renowned for his six-hitting ability, the 29-year-old revealed that he doesn’t actively try to hit sixes but instead focuses on getting into the right position and timing the ball perfectly.

“I don’t plan to hit sixes. I just try my best to get in good positions, and if it’s there, I just time the ball nicely,” Pooran said after the match, reflecting on his approach to batting. His focus on timing has allowed him to hit maximums with ease, as seen in his performance against SRH. Pooran was quick to start his innings, smashing his first four on the second ball he faced and following it up with two towering sixes off Simarjeet Singh.

At the end of the powerplay, Pooran had already raced to 44 off 16 balls, including four fours and as many sixes. He reached his half-century in just 18 balls, the third-fastest in the tournament, as the SRH bowlers struggled to contain his onslaught.

Despite his extraordinary ability to clear the ropes, Pooran emphasized that his success is not about trying to hit the ball hard but about getting into the right position. He added, “I’ve never worked on my bat speed. I’m just blessed with incredible talent. I am really happy that I have put in the work over the years, and I am getting the reward on the cricket field and winning games for my team.”

Pooran’s ability to combine timing and power is making him one of the most dangerous hitters in the IPL, and with each passing game, he continues to show why he is one of the most feared players in the T20 format.
