IPL 2025: Parthiv Patel Addresses David Miller's Absence In Gujarat Titans Squad
March 24, 2025: Former Indian cricketer and Gujarat Titans’ assistant and batting coach for IPL 2025, Parthiv Patel, addressed the absence of David Miller in the lower-middle order of the team during a pre-match press conference. Miller, who has been an instrumental figure in Gujarat Titans’ success, was bought by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for Rs 7.5 crore in the IPL 2025 auction. His departure created a void in the team’s batting line-up, particularly in the finisher’s role.
Patel acknowledged that while it’s challenging to fill the shoes of a player like Miller, the team has players capable of stepping up. “I don’t see there is a problem, letting go of a player who has done well, but the auction is dynamic, and we have to let someone go,” Patel said. He highlighted Sherfane Rutherford as a strong addition to the team, known for his big-hitting ability. Additionally, players like Rahul Tewatia and Shahrukh Khan, who have previously delivered solid performances for Gujarat Titans, will help fill the gap left by Miller’s absence.
Miller’s legacy in the IPL is well-established, with memorable stints at Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, and Gujarat Titans. He became a key figure for Gujarat Titans during their championship-winning campaign in the debut IPL season, contributing 481 runs in 16 matches, including two fifties. His role as a finisher, especially in crucial moments, was invaluable.
With Gujarat Titans set to face Punjab Kings in their fifth game of IPL 2025 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Patel is confident that the team will continue to thrive despite Miller’s departure. He remains optimistic that the collective efforts of the team’s current lineup will ensure strong performances in his absence.
