IPL 2025: Sai Sudharsan Talks Hunger, Dedication, and Team Success Ahead Of Match Against SRH

April 6, 2025: Gujarat Titans batter Sai Sudharsan has stressed the importance of hunger and dedication in driving his contributions to the team’s success, regardless of previous performances. With an impressive 2023 IPL season behind him, where he scored 527 runs in 12 matches, Sai has carried his form into the ongoing 2025 season, amassing 186 runs in just three matches.

In an exclusive conversation with Boria Majumdar on Revsportz, Sai shared his approach to the game, which revolves around focusing on the team’s needs and the goal of winning. “From a mental point of view, I think it’s about the hunger, and it’s about the dedication we have to make the team win,” Sai said. “I have that hunger every game; whatever happens in the previous game, that doesn’t matter. But the next game, I think only focusing on what you have to do, in what ways we can make the team win and try and contribute in any way.”

Sai’s consistent performances are complemented by the guidance he receives from Gujarat Titans’ captain Shubman Gill. He praised Gill for his leadership qualities, highlighting his ability to manage players effectively and understand their mindset. “Shubman is a very good leader because the way he manages players, the way he understands the mindset of the players, he gives them that time, he gives them that space,” said Sai. “He’s a very good man-manager, and he can be a lovely leader in the future.”

Shubman has been at the helm for Gujarat Titans since their IPL 2022 title win and led the team to the finals in 2023. He scored 890 runs in 17 matches last season, which included three centuries. Sai emphasized the impact of Gill’s leadership on the team’s progress, particularly how they often discuss strategies and ideas about batting and the game itself.

“Our partnership, both on and off the field, has been amazing,” Sai added. “We have a lot of conversations about batting, game plans, and how we can go about situations in the game. Even in practice sessions, we talk a lot about how we can approach different bowlers, how we can execute strategies. During the game, he gives me a few pointers, and I feel I’ve learned a lot from his batting as well.”

Sai has emerged as one of the top performers in IPL 2025, currently ranked as the second-highest run-scorer in the season with 186 runs from three innings, including two half-centuries. He trails only Nicholas Pooran of Lucknow Super Giants, who has scored 201 runs in four innings.

Sai will be seen in action once again on Sunday, when Gujarat Titans face off against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 19th match of IPL 2025 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium.
