IPL 2025: Sanjay Bangar Predicts CSK Win Over SRH In “Revenge Week” Clash

April 25, 2025: As the IPL 2025 “Revenge Week” heats up, former Indian batting coach Sanjay Bangar has made his prediction for the upcoming fixture between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The match, set to take place on Friday at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, is crucial for both teams, who have had disappointing seasons so far with only two wins each from their first eight matches.

Bangar, speaking as a JioStar expert on Jio Hotstar’s ‘Match Centre Live,’ believes that CSK’s strong spin bowling attack, led by captain MS Dhoni, will be the key to their success in the game. He pointed out the team’s ability to develop young talent and adapt to changing conditions as further strengths, which would give them the edge over SRH.

“CSK has always been strong with their spin bowling, and with someone like MS Dhoni at the helm, they’ll make sure there’s enough assistance for the spinners at Chepauk,” said Bangar. “The team is evolving, and there’s more focus on nurturing young players, which is very promising for their future. On the other hand, SRH has been inconsistent and vulnerable throughout the season.”

Bangar’s assessment highlights CSK’s tactical advantage in the spin department. In conditions where spinners tend to thrive, especially at Chennai’s iconic Chepauk Stadium, CSK’s ability to back their slow bowlers—like Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Maheesh Theekshana—makes them formidable opponents. Additionally, Dhoni’s experience and leadership style continue to be a guiding force for the team.

In contrast, Sunrisers Hyderabad have been struggling with consistency this season, which has reflected in their performances. SRH’s lack of cohesion and inability to execute plans in the crucial moments have cost them dearly. With captain Pat Cummins yet to find his rhythm, SRH has struggled to build partnerships, and their batting has failed to deliver under pressure.

Bangar also took note of CSK’s historical dominance over SRH, especially at home. Out of the 21 matches played between the two teams, CSK has won 15, and their record at Chepauk is even more impressive, winning all five of their encounters with SRH at the venue. Given the current form and the added advantage of home support, Bangar’s prediction seems to hold weight.

Both teams enter the game after disappointing losses in their previous matches. CSK suffered a heavy defeat to Mumbai Indians (MI), losing by nine wickets, while SRH lost by seven wickets to MI in their latest encounter. With both teams desperate for a win, the “Revenge Week” fixture promises to be a must-watch.

Bangar’s assessment suggests that despite the challenges SRH has faced, CSK’s consistency in exploiting conditions and their tactical prowess, especially in their spin bowling attack, will see them through.

  • Shaik Rasheed, Rachin Ravindra, Ayush Mhatre, Vijay Shankar, Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dube, MS Dhoni (w/c), Jamie Overton, Noor Ahmad, Khaleel Ahmed, Matheesha Pathirana, Ravichandran Ashwin, Anshul Kamboj, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Sam Curran, Ramakrishna Ghosh, Rahul Tripathi, Deepak Hooda, Shreyas Gopal, Devon Conway, Mukesh Choudhary, Nathan Ellis, Dewald Brevis, Andre Siddarth C, Vansh Bedi.
