April 15, 2025: After guiding Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to a much-needed victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Shivam Dube reflected on the importance of adapting to pressure situations and taking the game deep, especially after the team’s recent struggles in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season.

Dube, who remained unbeaten on 43 off 37 balls, was instrumental in anchoring the innings after a few middle-order hiccups. Following the five-wicket win, Dube emphasized the significance of holding composure and playing as per the match situation.

“This means a lot, losing 5 games in a row—that is not CSK. Our bowlers bowled really well and today I had wanted to stay till the end. I had this thought that I wanted to finish the game and I felt this is the time to take the game very deep after losing a few wickets in the middle,” said Dube at the post-match presentation.

He underlined that mindset alone isn’t always the key, but rather the ability to assess the moment and act accordingly.

“It’s not about the mindset, it’s about playing according to the situation. Instead of attacking, I felt taking the game deep was a better option. My plan was very simple—not to try and hit the ball very hard because the bowlers were executing very well. Taking positives from this game to the next one is very important,” he added.

The win saw CSK finally end their five-match losing streak. While Shivam Dube played the anchor, MS Dhoni once again lit up the match with a blistering cameo. Dhoni’s unbeaten 26 off 11 balls included four boundaries and a six, helping seal the win with three balls to spare.
