IPL 2025: Wanindu Hasaranga Joins Rare Club With Four-Wicket Haul Against CSK
March 31, 2025: Rajasthan Royals’ leg-break spinner Wanindu Hasaranga made history during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash against Chennai Super Kings, securing a four-wicket haul and dismantling the CSK batting lineup. Hasaranga’s exceptional bowling performance played a crucial role in restricting CSK to just 182 runs, handing Rajasthan a narrow victory.
Hasaranga’s figures of 4/35 saw him remove Rahul Tripathi, Vijay Shankar, Shivam Dube, and CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, playing a key role in ensuring CSK fell short in their chase of 183 runs on the Guwahati pitch. His effort not only helped Rajasthan secure an important win but also earned him a place in an exclusive club as the third spinner to take a four-wicket haul against CSK in IPL history.
The first to achieve this feat was Harbhajan Singh, who claimed 5/18 for Mumbai Indians against CSK in 2011. Brad Hogg followed with his 4/29 for Kolkata Knight Riders in 2015, and now Hasaranga joins these two legends with his superb performance.
Adding another feather to Hasaranga’s cap, he became the second bowler in Rajasthan Royals’ history to take a four-wicket haul against CSK, after Sohail Tanvir’s memorable 6/14 in the IPL’s inaugural edition.
While Hasaranga basked in his individual glory, the loss handed Chennai Super Kings a reality check. Despite their consistent performances over the years, CSK has now lost all nine games in which they have been asked to chase down a target of 175 or more since the 2021 IPL season.
