KL Rahul's Honest Confession After India's Nerve-Wracking Champions Trophy Final Win! 🎙️🏆
March 10, 2025: Dubai: The Champions Trophy 2025 final was nothing short of a roller-coaster ride as India held their nerve to secure a historic third title with a nail-biting four-wicket win over New Zealand at the Dubai International Stadium.
Chasing 252, India seemed comfortable with Rohit Sharma’s explosive 76 and Shreyas Iyer’s solid 48, but a middle-order collapse brought the match down to the wire. KL Rahul, who played a crucial unbeaten knock of 34, revealed the intensity of the moment in a post-match chat.
Speaking candidly about the tension in the final moments, Rahul admitted,
“Not sure I can say this on air but I was s***** myself! As confident as I could be that I could get over the line, keeping composure is all that matters. Happy to have done it this time.”*

Rahul also credited the BCCI’s grooming system and the mental strength of the team, highlighting that every player has faced pressure right from their early days in cricket.
India’s bowlers set the stage by restricting New Zealand to 251/7 in 50 overs, with Kuldeep Yadav (2/40) and Varun Chakravarthy (2/45) leading the attack. Daryl Mitchell (63), Michael Bracewell (53), and Rachin Ravindra (37)* were the top scorers for the Kiwis.
Despite losing two quick wickets in the chase, KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya (18) ensured that India got over the line with six balls to spare, making India the first-ever team to win the Champions Trophy thrice (2002, 2013, 2025)!
Following the victory, Indian fans erupted in joy, fireworks lit up the Dubai sky, and players danced in celebration. A special moment saw Sunil Gavaskar break into a dance, capturing the sheer happiness of India’s cricket fraternity.
With this win, Rohit Sharma joins the elite list of multiple ICC trophy-winning captains, solidifying India’s dominance in world cricket.
