Kuldeep Yadav Snaps at Umpire After DRS Drama- Here’s What Happened

May 19, 2025: Delhi Capitals (DC) spinner Kuldeep Yadav found himself at the center of controversy during his side’s IPL 2025 clash against Gujarat Titans (GT), after a heated moment with an on-field umpire over an LBW appeal.

The incident unfolded during the first delivery of the 8th over, when Kuldeep deceived Sai Sudharsan with a beautifully bowled googly that struck the pads. Despite a loud appeal from Kuldeep and his teammates, the umpire remained unmoved.

What added fuel to the fire was DC’s decision to review the call—despite having already burned a review just two balls earlier. Captain Axar Patel backed Kuldeep’s insistence and went for the DRS. However, replays showed the ball clipping the leg stump, and the on-field decision stood as per the umpire’s call.

Frustrated by the narrow margin and the continuation of Sudharsan’s innings, Kuldeep lost his cool and confronted the umpire—a reaction that may lead to disciplinary action under the IPL Code of Conduct. Axar Patel quickly stepped in to defuse the situation, while RCB skipper Faf du Plessis—on commentary duties—was also seen showing concern near the pitch.

If the match referee deems Kuldeep’s behavior inappropriate, the spinner could face a fine or a warning for dissent towards match officials.

GT Cruise into Playoffs with Emphatic Win

Meanwhile, the drama didn’t deter GT from putting on a dominant display. Chasing 200, openers Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill crafted a majestic 200-run unbeaten partnership, sealing a 10-wicket win that not only secured GT’s place in the IPL 2025 playoffs but also confirmed playoff berths for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS).

Sudharsan starred with a brilliant 108* off 61 balls—his second IPL century—while Gill remained unbeaten on 93 off 53 balls. Their chase, executed with precision and zero risks, rendered KL Rahul’s earlier 112* for DC insufficient.

With this result, Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, and Lucknow Super Giants are now left scrambling for the final playoff berth in what promises to be a thrilling finish to the league stage.
