October 29, 2024: Mohammed Rizwan, the newly-appointed captain of the Pakistan white-ball team, is determined to lead his side to victory against Australia in their upcoming series starting November 4. Rizwan, who takes over from Babar Azam, aims to overcome the historical challenges Pakistan has faced in Australia.

In a video message from the Pakistan Cricket Board, Rizwan acknowledged past difficulties but expressed confidence that the current team can meet the nation’s expectations. He noted that previous matches in Australia were closely contested and emphasized the importance of learning from those experiences. “Inshallah, Australia ko Australia mein haraenge,” he declared, reinforcing his commitment to winning on Australian soil.
Rizwan also outlined his long-term vision for the team, mentioning significant upcoming tournaments like the Champions Trophy next year and the ICC T20 World Cup in 2026, with an eye on the 2028 Olympics. The team’s preparation aims to address various challenges ahead.
The squad will depart for Melbourne in stages, beginning October 28, before heading to Zimbabwe for another white-ball series starting November 24.
