Nasser Hussain predicts T20 World Cup finalists and more

A former captain of England, Nasser Hussain has revealed who he believes will play in the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which will take place in the USA and the West Indies starting in June, as well as who the contenders are to win ‘Player of the Tournament’. Although Hussain thinks England, led by influential player Jos Buttler, is well-suited to try and win back-to-back titles, he has picked South Africa to emerge as a surprise winner and take home the trophy.

“I haven’t given this much thought, but I’m going with South Africa,” Hussain stated, according to the ICC. “England is currently not playing very well, but they are the reigning champions. Can I select all of these sides since it’s in the Caribbean, the West Indies are doing well, and Pakistan is there as well? He concluded by saying, “I am going to go for South Africa versus England in the final.” During the recent ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in India, South Africa demonstrated their abilities by making it to the knockout stages before losing to eventual champions Australia. They could benefit from the return of important pace duo Anrich Nortje and Sisanda Magala for the T20 match that is scheduled for the middle of next year.

Hussain also mentioned that the Proteas’ recent on-field progress can be attributed in large part to the rise of SA20, the country’s domestic T20 competition. “I am following (fellow commentator) Simon Doull a little bit here,” Hussain said. He predicted that they would win the (50-over) World Cup ahead of time, but his prediction was a little off. Even though South Africa is still one of the best countries in the world for sports and cricket, I thought Doully made a wise statement with that one. And during that World Cup, they displayed some outstanding cricketing.” “Some of their players have really improved, in my opinion, and they now have that depth, that class, and that talent thanks to their domestic SA20 competition.

“I’m not sure where Anrich Nortje is at the moment with his injury, but he could have been the difference in those pivotal games near the end of the World Cup. Thus, he said, “I think maybe I’ll look for South Africa if Nortje can get fit for the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean and with their dynamic batting line-up.” Hussain has predicted that the top-ranked T20I batter from India, Suryakumar Yadav, will add to his already impressive resume and win the coveted Player of the Tournament award at the T20 World Cup next year, despite the fact that South Africa has a plethora of talented white-ball players who could easily win the award.

“The person for the world to watch out for at the moment in T20 is Suryakumar Yadav,” Hussain stated. “The guy really is weird. In fairness to Mr. 360, he is a bit of a freak because, in fifty overs of cricket, he is not entirely sure when to go, when not to go, or what to do.” “But in T20 cricket, he absolutely knows what to do every single time almost, and it is a fun game, T20 cricket and watching SKY, that is absolutely fun.”
