PCB Takes Bold Stand: No Free Passes for Champions Trophy 2025

Pakistan Cricket Board Ends Complimentary Ticket Distribution, Citing ICC’s Control Over Ticketing

February 23, 2025: 🏏 PCB Ends Free Passes, Sparks Debate

For the first time in Pakistan’s history, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has refused to distribute free passes for enclosures, VIP areas, and hospitality boxes during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Unlike previous international series in Pakistan, where free tickets were allocated to government officials, VIPs, sponsors, and media personnel, the PCB has implemented a strict no-complimentary-pass policy, citing ICC’s control over ticketing.

A PCB official confirmed that only a few tickets have been reserved for the chairman’s personal guests and official sponsors.

📢 “No Freebies This Time” – PCB Official

A source close to the ticketing process revealed:

“PCB officials are facing immense pressure from individuals accustomed to free passes, but they are being informed that since the ICC manages the tournament’s ticketing, there are no complimentary tickets available.”

“It is particularly difficult to explain this decision to government departments assisting with the event’s logistics and VIPs who traditionally expect free access.”

🔥 Past Precedents and Strong Ticket Sales

🔹 When India toured Pakistan in 2004, then PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan initially planned to eliminate free passes but had to reverse his decision due to public demand.

🔹 This time, however, the PCB is standing firm, ensuring that every attendee in the enclosures is a paying customer.

🔹 The Australia vs England clash at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium saw a strong demand for tickets, with expectations of a packed stadium by the second innings.
