His explosive innings included 60 runs off 59 deliveries, featuring eight boundaries and two sixes, with a strike rate of 101.69.

Before Pant’s remarkable feat, the record was held by opener Yashasvi Jaiwal, who achieved a half-century in the second Test of the series. Notably, Harbhajan Singh and Sarfaraz Khan had also recorded fifties in quick succession against New Zealand in previous matches.
As for the match, India finished their innings at 263, taking a 28-run lead over New Zealand. Key contributions came from Shubman Gill, who scored 90 runs, Pant with his rapid 60, and Washington Sundar, who added an unbeaten 38 runs.
New Zealand, who batted first after winning the toss, were bowled out for 235. Daryl Mitchell (82) and Will Young (71) were the standout performers for the visitors. Ravindra Jadeja was the standout bowler for India, claiming five wickets for 65 runs, marking his 14th five-wicket haul in Test cricket. Washington Sundar also impressed with four wickets, while Akash Deep chipped in with one.
