Rohit-Rinku breaks fifth-wicket partnership record

In the third and final Twenty20 international of the three-match series on Wednesday, Rohit Sharma and Rinku Singh shared the highest partnership for a fifth wicket against Afghanistan. Following the first four wickets being removed for just 22 runs, the two stitched together a partnership of 190 runs. The Men in Blue captain hit 121 runs off 69 balls, including 11 fours and eight sixes, while Rinku scored an undefeated 69 runs from 39 balls, including two fours and six sixes in his innings.

Both the hitters beat the previous greatest partnership record for any side for fifth wicket or below in T20Is which was 145 runs between Deependra Airee & Kushal Malla for Nepal versus Hong Kong in Mulpani. With this stand, which is the highest partnership for any wicket for India in T20Is, Rohit and Rinku broke yet another record. This 176-run record was previously set in Dublin in 2022 against Ireland by Sanju Samson and Deepak Hooda. Speaking of the game, which was pushed to two super overs, India defeated Afghanistan by 11 runs. Rohit was named Player of the Match for his amazing sixth T20I century. For his incredible sixth T20I century, Rohit won Player of the Match. Because of his winning performances in the first two Twenty20 Internationals of the series, India’s Shivam Dube, an all-rounder, was named Player of the Series.
