October 15, 2024: India’s cricket team, led by skipper Rohit Sharma, is preparing for the three-match Test series against New Zealand, set to begin on October 16, 2024, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

In a pre-series press conference, Rohit Sharma highlighted the importance of carefully managing the workload of fast bowler Mayank Yadav, given his history of injuries. He added that the management is looking to groom these players for future series, including the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia later this year. This reflects India’s broader strategy of building bench strength, particularly among fast bowlers, to create depth and versatility in the squad.

The official squad for the series was announced, with Jasprit Bumrah appointed as vice-captain, and the 15-player list includes names like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli. The traveling reserves, alongside Yadav and Reddy, include Harshit Rana and Prasidh Krishna, reinforcing India’s focus on nurturing young talent.
