
Rohit Sharma Fat Shamed, Called Vada Pav During Ranji Trophy Match Against Jammu & Kashmir-Watch
January 25, 2025: Mumbai: Rohit Sharma, returning to the Ranji Trophy after a decade, faced harsh criticism from fans during Mumbai’s clash against Jammu and Kashmir at the BKC Ground. In a viral video on social media, chants of “Hardik, Hardik” and comments like “vada pav” were directed at the 37-year-old India captain, highlighting concerns about his fitness.

The match was significant as several Indian cricketers, including Sharma, participated to regain form ahead of the ODI series against England and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. However, Sharma’s performance fell short of expectations, scoring only three runs in the first innings and managing 31 in the second.

Despite facing a star-studded Mumbai lineup that included players like Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shardul Thakur, Jammu and Kashmir delivered an exceptional performance. They secured a five-wicket victory, marking their first win against Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy since December 2014.

The victory catapulted Jammu and Kashmir to the top of Group A with 29 points from six games. A single point in their final match against Baroda will ensure their advancement. Conversely, Mumbai faces elimination if Baroda gains a first-innings lead in the next game.
