July 8, 2025: Fresh off a historic double century and a stylish hundred that secured India’s crushing 336-run win at Edgbaston, skipper Shubman Gill marches into the third Test at Lord’s brimming with confidence — and with several major milestones in sight.

With the five-match series tied 1-1, India will aim to ride the momentum at a ground where they’ve lost only once in their last three tours. The 24-year-old Gill, now settled at the iconic No. 4 position once held by legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli, is already scripting a legacy of his own.

Gill currently leads the run charts in the series, having piled up 585 runs in four innings at an astonishing average of 146.25 and a strike rate over 73. His stunning 269 off 387 balls at Edgbaston remains the high point of the series so far.
With just 18 more runs, Gill is on the verge of surpassing Rahul Dravid’s 2002 England tour record of 602 runs — a milestone made in four Tests and six innings at an average of 106.33.
He also has a chance to outshine his idol Virat Kohli, who scored 692 runs in a single SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia) series in 2018, still considered one of the finest by an Indian. Gill is only 108 runs short of that mark.
Adding to the milestones, if Gill manages another 169 runs, he will reach 6,000 international runs — an elite milestone for the young star. Currently, he has 5,831 runs across 110 matches and 139 innings, with 17 centuries and 25 fifties.
Another potential milestone? A century at Lord’s. If Gill reaches three figures here, he’ll join an exclusive club of Indian greats including Dilip Vengsarkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, KL Rahul, Ajinkya Rahane, and Ravi Shastri, among others.
From a stylish stroke-maker to a record-breaker, all eyes are on Shubman Gill as he prepares for what could be a career-defining match at the Mecca of cricket.
