Team India Begins Preparations in London for England Test Series
June 8, 2025: A new era of Indian Test cricket has officially begun as Team India, now led by Shubman Gill in the red-ball format, commenced their training in London ahead of the much-anticipated five-match Test series against England, starting June 20 in Leeds.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) offered fans a behind-the-scenes look at the squad’s first training session, sharing a video on social media. The footage featured Gill, vice-captain Rishabh Pant, and pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah engaging in warm-ups, fielding drills, running exercises, and a fun football session.
This England tour marks a major transitional phase for Indian cricket following the Test retirements of two modern-day greats — Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The leadership baton has now been passed to 24-year-old Shubman Gill, who faces the enormous challenge of leading a youthful side in testing English conditions.
Spanning over two months, the Test series will run from June to August 2025, covering some of the most iconic cricket venues in England. The matches are scheduled to take place at:
With new leadership, a fresh squad, and high expectations from fans, this series will be crucial in shaping the future of Indian Test cricket.
