“Unfair!” — Shaheen Afridi Gifted 24K Gold iPhone 16 Pro During PSL, Teammates React With Banter

Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Afridi received a gold-plated iPhone 16 Pro as a surprise on-field gift, sparking playful jealousy from teammate Haris Rauf. Meanwhile, Corbin Bosch faces PSL ban for IPL switch.

Lahore, April 21, 2025:
Pakistan pace spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi stole the spotlight during the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 when he was presented with a 24-karat gold-plated iPhone 16 Pro by his franchise, Lahore Qalandars.

The presentation happened in full view of his teammates and fans, with Afridi visibly delighted by the glitzy gift. Holding up the phone, he commented, “It is heavy.” But not everyone was all smiles—fellow Pakistan pacer and teammate Haris Rauf jokingly quipped, “This is unfair!” sparking laughter all around.

Afridi, who is captaining Lahore Qalandars this season, has been working to regain his top form after battling injuries over the past year. The gesture from the franchise was seen as a nod of appreciation for his contributions both as a leader and a player.

🔁 IPL vs PSL: The Clash of Commitments

This season, both the IPL 2025 and PSL 2025 are running concurrently, forcing several players to make difficult choices. One such cricketer is South Africa’s Corbin Bosch, who was originally drafted by Peshawar Zalmi as a diamond pick in the PSL.

However, Bosch opted to pull out of the tournament after receiving an IPL offer from Mumbai Indians as an injury replacement. His decision didn’t sit well with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which responded by suspending him for one year and issuing a legal notice for breach of contract.

Bosch issued a public apology, stating:

“I deeply regret my decision to withdraw from the PSL and offer my sincere apologies to the people of Pakistan, the fans of Peshawar Zalmi, and the wider cricket community. I take full responsibility and accept the fine and ban. This has been a hard lesson, and I hope to return with renewed commitment.”

The incident underscores the growing tug-of-war between global franchise leagues and the increasing challenges for players balancing opportunities with obligations.
