Virat Kohli Speaks On Australia's 'Mindset' Ahead Of BGT 2024-25 Series

November 3, 2024: As the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 approaches, Virat Kohli has shared his insights into the competitive mentality of the Australian cricket team.

With the series set to kick off on November 22 in Perth, Kohli acknowledged Australia's strong team cohesion, stating that all 11 players are aligned in their approach and know exactly what is required of them. This awareness and high skill level motivate him to elevate his own game in order to compete effectively.

"I think I can understand that mindset properly that they are so competetive that all the 11 players on the same page and they know what to do do and when. Seeing this, my motivation increase as they are so aware and their skill set is so high that I have to elevate my game in order to defeat them," said Kohli.

India has enjoyed success in recent years, winning the last four series against Australia, including two series victories in Australia during the 2018-19 and 2020-21 seasons. Historically, India leads the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with 10 wins compared to Australia’s five, with Australia’s last series win occurring in the 2014-15 season.

The series schedule includes several exciting matches: the second Test will be a day-night fixture at Adelaide Oval from December 6 to 10, followed by the third Test at The Gabba from December 14 to 18. The Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground from December 26 to 30 will be a highlight, leading up to the final Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground from January 3 to 7.

India's squad, led by Rohit Sharma with Jasprit Bumrah as vice-captain, includes key players like Kohli, Rishabh Pant, and Ravichandran Ashwin. Notably, Mohammed Shami was not included in the squad, but the team is set to bring a strong lineup to face off against a determined Australian side. Fans are eagerly anticipating what promises to be an exciting series!
