May 17, 2025: It was an emotional and proud moment for Team India’s ODI skipper Rohit Sharma as a stand was unveiled in his name at Mumbai’s iconic Wankhede Stadium. The heartfelt ceremony saw the cricketer accompanied by his parents, wife Ritika Sajdeh and brother, with Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis helping unveil the stand amid fireworks and applause.

For Rohit, this recognition wasn’t just another milestone—it was personal. “Wankhede has always been incredibly special to me… To have a stand named after me at this iconic venue is overwhelming,” he said.
Adding a touch of humour to the occasion, Rohit had a quick and light-hearted exchange with a man near his car about a dent—showing his grounded personality even on a day dedicated to his legacy.
Beyond the emotional tribute, Rohit’s cricketing journey speaks volumes. A veteran since 2007, he’s played pivotal roles in India’s ICC triumphs, including the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2024 T20 World Cup, and 2025 Champions Trophy. Recently retired from Tests and T20Is, Rohit continues to be the heartbeat of Indian cricket.
As part of the same event, the MCA also unveiled the Sharad Pawar Stand, Ajit Wadekar Stand, and MCA Office Lounge, honouring other cricket stalwarts.
