April 14, 2025: After leading Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to a dominant nine-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals (RR) on April 13, Virat Kohli was in for a surprise in the dressing room. The star batter, who remained unbeaten on 62 runs off 45 balls to guide RCB to victory, was pranked by teammate Tim David.
In a lighthearted moment captured on video, David decided to prank Kohli by hiding one of his bats. The video, shared by RCB, shows David speaking with a grin, “Where is it? I want to see how long it took Virat to realise we’ve taken one of his bats.” Kohli, who had just finished his impressive knock, immediately started searching his kit bag and noticed something was off. “I counted my bats yesterday, it was seven. Now, it’s… six!” he exclaimed, realizing his bat was missing.
Kohli quickly suspected something was amiss and began his investigation. Without much hesitation, he checked David’s kit bag and retrieved his bat. “I didn’t take it. I just borrowed it,” David playfully defended himself.
“Did you all know about this?” Kohli said, smiling, though visibly amused. His reaction combined a mix of playful frustration and good humor, using a few expletives, but all in jest as he returned his bat to his kit bag.
David, still with a smirk, explained the prank, saying, “Virat was batting so nicely that we thought we’d see how long it will take him to realise one of his bats is missing. He didn’t, he was too happy with himself, obviously. So, I had to give it back to him. He thought I was trying to steal it, but I wasn’t.”
Phil Salt, Kohli’s batting partner, also chimed in on the incident with a playful remark. “I think he was playing on Virat’s kinder side with the way we won. He misread that one, big misread.”
This light-hearted prank in the dressing room after a thrilling victory was a perfect way to lighten the mood after a solid win, with Kohli showing his usual leadership and composure on the field, and his teammates sharing a laugh off it.
