"We Hit Some Sixes The Momentum Changed..", Says Rinku Singh After Brilliant Knock Against Bangladesh
October 10, 2024: India secured an emphatic 86-run win over Bangladesh in the second T20I at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, clinching the three-match series 2-0.
Rinku Singh, one of the standout performers, highlighted how the ball was gripping the surface initially, making it difficult for batters early on. However, he noted that once India gained momentum by hitting some sixes, the game turned in their favor.
Rinku’s comments reflect his strategic approach as a batter, where he emphasized rotating the strike and waiting for bad deliveries to hit. He credited coach Gautam Gambhir, who mentored him during his time with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL, for giving him the freedom to play his natural game. Rinku also expressed his ambition to play for India across all formats, stating he is ready for any opportunity.
In the match, India posted a commanding 221/9, with crucial contributions from Nitish Kumar Reddy (74 off 34 balls) and Rinku Singh (53 off 29 balls), forming a 108-run partnership that rescued India from a shaky start. Hardik Pandya’s cameo further strengthened the total.
Bangladesh’s chase faltered despite Mahmadullah’s 41, and they were restricted to 135/9, with Nitish and Varun Chakravarthy taking two wickets each. Nitish’s all-round performance earned him the ‘Player of the Match’ award.
