Cristiano Ronaldo is looking for his first official title with Al Nassr in the Saudi Super Cup Final

The Portuguese superstar is just one goal away from reaching the century mark as Al Nassr takes on Al Ahli in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong, August 23: Cristiano Ronaldo will lead Al Nassr into the Saudi Super Cup 2025 final against a tough Al Ahli team at the Hong Kong Stadium this Saturday.

Ronaldo had everything to lose. The great striker has scored a lot of goals since joining Al Nassr in 2023, but he still hasn’t won an official trophy with the Saudi giants. He won the Arab Club Champions Cup in 2023, but because it was organized by a group that wasn’t legitimate, it doesn’t count as an official win. He can finally stop that wait now that the Saudi Super Cup is up for grabs.

Ronaldo is on the verge of reaching another personal milestone: he is just one goal away from scoring 100 goals for Al Nassr, which would make his legend in Saudi football even stronger.

The Path to the Final

The road to the final for Al Nassr has been full of turmoil. In the semi-final, they played against their biggest rivals, Al Ittihad. Even though Sadio Mane was sent off after 25 minutes into the game, they fought hard. Mane scored first in the 10th minute, but Ronaldo’s assist to Joao Felix and his vision sealed a hard-fought 2-1 win.

But Mane’s suspension will be a big problem in the final. Coach Jorge Jesus will have to depend a lot on Ronaldo’s experience and finishing power now that he is no longer attacking.

The Challenge Ahead

Al Ahli, the current Asian Champions League (ACL) holders, is in their way. Riyad Mahrez is their captain. The Algerian star has been in great shape, getting two assists in Al Ahli’s 5-1 triumph over Al Qadsiah in the semifinals. Al Nassr’s defense will have a hard time with his creativity and leadership.

In the past, the two clubs have been evenly matched in their rivalry. Al Ahli has won 29 of the 72 times they have played against each other, while Al Nassr has won 28 times. There have been 15 draws. But Al Ahli has had a hard time against Al Nassr lately, losing all seven of their last games. Their last win was in 2020.

The Saudi Super Cup’s history

The Saudi Super Cup started in 2013 and is now in its 12th year. Al Nassr has won the trophy twice (in 2019 and 2020), while Al Ahli has only won it once (in 2016). This final isn’t only about the trophy for Ronaldo and Al Nassr. It’s also about rewriting history, breaking down barriers, and making sure they stay on top of Saudi football.

As the Hong Kong Stadium gets ready for a fight full of passion, competition, and star power, all eyes will be on Cristiano Ronaldo. Will he finally bring home the championship for Al Nassr and celebrate his 100th goal in style?
